Italy’s GSE seeks to allocate over 1 GW in second agrivoltaics tender

The Italian energy agency, Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE), has opened its second tender for agrivoltaics, seeking to allocate a total capacity of 1.04 GW. Selected projects will receive incentives of up to €323m that will be distributed through a competitive process based on predefined capacity quotas. Bidders must submit project proposals that generate up to 1,300 GWh/year and have not been awarded in the previous tender round. Agricultural activity should comprise 70% of the total area of the agrivoltaics system. The projects must be completed within 18 months of by 30 June 2026, risking reduction or even a cancellation of the funding if the project is delayed or fails to be completed within the established period.

In December 2024, the GSE awarded over 1.5 GW of capacity in its first tender for agrivoltaics, distributed among 540 projects proposed to be developed mainly in southern Italy by agricultural companies.
