“Whatever happens, sooner or later the sun will shine again“: a well-known hope, unfortunately tremendously topical these days, but which takes on another meaning, much more literal, when reading one of the most important annual reports in the energy sector, the World Energy Outlook 2020 prepared by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
For the sun, or rather for the solar panels that on Earth capture and distribute its energy, the post-pandemic future looks really bright. Fatih Birol, who is the Executive Director of the IEA, certainly thinks so.
Photovoltaics – he said – is now becoming the new king of the world’s electricity markets. Based on the current political direction, it is on track to set new diffusion records every year starting from 2022″.
