The Vietnamese conglomerate Trung Nam Group has commissioned a 450 MW solar power plant in Phước Minh Commune, Ninh Thuận Province (Vietnam), as well as 500 kV and 220 kV transmission lines to connect the project to the national grid. The plant required a VND14,000bn (US$604m) investment.
According to the National Steering Committee for Electricity Development, Vietnam’s solar capacity will grow to 14.4 GW in 2025 and 20 GW in 2030, while wind capacity will reach 6 GW in 2025 and 10 GW in 2030. The share of solar and wind in the power mix is aimed to reach 15-20% by 2030 and 25-30% by 2045. The Ninh Thuận province aims to become the country’s renewable hub, targeting a total renewable power capacity of 8,000 MW by 2030.
