Acciona will build Kallpa’s 225 MW solar power PV plant in Peru

The Spanish energy company Acciona Energía has announced plans to build a 225 MW solar PV power plant in the district of La Joya, in the southern region of Arequipa (southern Peru). The project will be developed for the Peruvian energy company Kallpa Generación, under a full EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) model. The solar power plant will be connected to Peru’s transmission grid at the San José substation (220 kV). Once operational, the project is expected to produce 611 GWh/year, equivalent to the average annual energy consumption of 547,000 homes, and to save the emission of 215 ktCO2/year.

At the end of 2023, Peru had a total installed capacity of 15.9 GW, of which almost 290 MW (~2%) corresponded to solar capacity.
