The French energy group TotalEnergies has started operations at its 263 MW solar cluster project in Seville, in southern Spain. The solar complex is composed of five projects which are expected to produce up to 515 GWh/year of solar energy or the equivalent to power over 150,000 Spanish households and avoid 245 ktCO2/year emissions. The cluster’s electric production is planned to be sold through PPA’s and the rest will be sold on the wholesale market.
Spain had a total installed capacity of 132 GW at the end of 2024, of which solar accounted for 26%. The country targets to reach 80% of its power mix from renewable sources.
