Türkiye awards 800 MW of solar PV projects in YEKA GES-2024 tender

Turkey’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has allocated 800 MW of solar PV capacity in its YEKA GES-2024 tender. From the 146 projects submitted by 67 national and foreign companies, only six were selected in six regions (Konya, Karaman, Malatya, Van, Antalya, and Kütahya). With capacities ranging from 40 MW to 385 MW and an average cost of US$126,000/MW installed, the selected projects will sell power to the Turkish grid at US$3.25c/kWh over a 20-year period. The winning developers include Çumra Güneş Enerjisi Üretim (40 MW), Erdem Soft Tekstil (40 MW), Chen Güneş Enerjisi (60 MW), Özerka Enerji Elektrik Üretim (75 MW), Temmuz Güneş Enerji Üretim (200 MW), and Elektrik Üretim (385 MW).

As part of the country’s National Energy Plan 2022-2035, renewables are expected to account for 75% of the new power capacity that will be commissioned and will make up 65% of total capacity in 2035 (58.5% in 2023). At the end of 2023, Türkiye had a total installed capacity of 106 GW, of which 11% corresponded to solar energy.
