German ground-mounted PV tender for 2.1 GW attracts 4.7 GW of bids

The German energy regulator Bundesnetzagentur has received 524 bids totalling 4,708 MW in a tender round offering 2,148 MW of ground-mounted PV capacity. 45 bids were excluded from the procedure and 242 bids totalling 2,150 MW were awarded. The average bidding price stood at €4.76c/kWh (6% below the previous round average of €5.05c/kWh and a record low since February 2019), with bids ranging between €3.88c/kWh and €4.95c/kWh. Most of the capacity was awarded in Bavaria (120 awards, 916 MW), Schleswig-Holstein (21 awards, 213 MW), Lower Saxony (18 awards, 192 MW), Baden-Württemberg (20 awards, 176 MW) and Brandenburg (13 awards, 170 MW).

In its previous solar tenders, which were also oversubscribed, the Bundesnetzagentur awarded 326 bids totalling 2,234 MW (out of 4,100 MW submitted) in May 2024 and 268 bids totalling 2,152 MW (out of 4,206 MW submitted) in September 2024.
