The UK Secretary of State has granted consent for two solar project applications in the United Kingdom, approving Ecotricity’s 500 MW Heckington Fen and Island Green Power’s 480 MW West Burton solar projects. The Heckington Fen project will be situated close to the village of Heckington in Lincolnshire, England, and will include a 200-400 MW storage facility, while West Burton is to be built on the county border between Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. The West Burton project’s capacity was reduced by around 20% due to a design change.
