Enerside secures contract to develop 1 GW of solar PV and BESS in Italy

The Spanish solar developer Enerside Energy has signed a three-year strategic collaboration agreement to develop up to 1 GW of solar PV and BESS projects in Europe, mainly in Italy. The deal, signed with an undisclosed industrial partner, has a value of more than US$28bn. Enerside will be expected to cooperate and promote the projects (technical design, permitting and overall project development) until they enter commercial operations, while the industrial partner will have a right of first refusal on the acquisition of selected projects within the developer’s portfolio.

Italy’s installed capacity of 136 GW is made of about 56% renewables (2024), of which solar represents 36 GW or 26%.
