EU Commission approves €2.3bn financing for offshore wind projects in Poland

The European Commission has approved about PLN10bn (€2.3bn) of financing for offshore wind projects in Poland under the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

This amount is part of a €9.4bn total financing granted to Poland for the second and third instalments under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (€5.3bn were awarded in the form of loans and €4.1bn in grants).

In 2023, Poland achieved a target of 23 GW of onshore wind and solar PV capacity. Poland’s wind capacity grew rapidly between 2019 and 2023 (+0.9 GW/year), reaching 9.3 GW, after a slower progression before (0.5 GW/year between 2010 and 2019).
